You can now renew your road tax as of the 7 th of January until mid March each year without penalty. From the March deadline date the police will prosecute. After the initial period a fine of €10 + 10% of the rate of tax for the vehicle will be charged upon renewal. If the tax is not renewed for a full year, further penalties apply.
